B.C. LIONS –13 over Hamilton <o></o>
The Ticats lost 30-17 to the Argos last week in their opener and that looks a lot closer than it actually was. The Argos were up 30-3 at one point and that’s when they took their foot of the pedal. Now these perennial bottom feeders will travel to play at B.C, a team that is steaming after losing its opener in Saskatchewan after turning the ball over eight times. This is a talented and hungrier than-ever Lions squad and they couldn’t have asked for a more favorable opponent this week. The TiCats looked completely listless last week and they’d be in a much better position had the Lions won its opener. However, that wasn’t the case and no way do these Lions open 0-2 and put themselves in a huge whole in the West. Remember, last season the Lions swept both games against Hamilton by scores of 35-12 and 40-10 and that was a complacent Lions team last season. This year they’re not complacent at all and they’re playing with a chip on their shoulder in an effort to prove the media and fans wrong and you can double that after last week’s mistake-filled game. Hamilton was hammered in its opener by what was supposed to be a very ordinary Argos squad, yet they made the Double-Blue look like world beaters and if the Argos dull offense put up 30, the Lions O might double that here. Saskatchewan +1.35 over TORONTO
The Argos were completely amped up last week and came out on fire against their arch-enemies. They buried the Ticats and never let up until the game was out of hand. Yes, they looked good and they looked a lot better than anyone expected. As a result of that dominant performance, the Argos are a false 3-point choice here but the competition is about 100 times tougher than it was last week. The Roughies were absolutely relentless in their defensive pressure on Lions QB Buck Pierce last week and you can expect a huge dose of the same thing on mistake-prone Kerry Joseph. Joseph was the beneficiary of a very soft and passive Hamilton defense last week and that has given Argos backers a false sense of security. When Joseph is under heavy pressure, like he will be in this game, he’s a big liability. Quarterback Darian Durant completed 18-of-32 passes for over 300 yards last week in a torrential downpour and he really looked crisp in unfavorable conditions. He’ll have much better conditions this week and again, I can’t stress enough how impressive the Roughriders defense looked. Argos are overpriced and this is a great opportunity to cash in on the better team. Play: Saskatchewan +1.25 (Risking 2 units). <o></o>
